Smart street signs
This end user is responsible for providing street furniture and its maintenance.
They require a method to monitor their assets. They create and maintain sustainable traffic signs, waste bins, barriers, seating and so on. Traditionally, these assets were monitored through visual inspections in a given area, or through reports from passersby. This has proven to be an inefficient method and requires improvement. Given its significant time and resource demands, an important traffic sign might remain unreadable for a long period before repairs, potentially leading to unsafe situations.
Our customer conceptualized a new data management system and platform to monitor assets without dispatching personnel for tasks that may not require repairs. The system helps to manage the assets and keep up with temporary fixtures. Our sensor modules are fitted to the assets. These sensors monitor the signs for proper placement, orientation, stability, and impacts when they happen. By leveraging the reliable country wide LoRa network, these modules transmit small data packets with minimal power consumption, optimizing operational efficiency.
Integrating low-maintenance sensors into street signs allows the client to monitor asset integrity without deploying personnel for unnecessary inspections. This advancement has significantly enhanced the efficiency of street furniture repairs, promoting environmental friendliness and ensuring a quicker response to maintenance requirements.
